Considering that the demand for energy in peak conditions, which mainly occurs in the peak of summer heat in our country, is very different from the average demand throughout the year, the development of power plant capacity only to meet the peak demand does not have an economic justification. In addition, even reaching the required capacity will be a process of several years. For this reason, a variety of complementary methods are used all over the world to provide energy in peak conditions, of which energy storage in non-peak conditions is the main one. In this regard, Ali Behrouzifar, CEO of Toka Energy Pars Company, said: Despite the presence of this device in gas turbines during low demand hours, electrical energy is used to produce ice. The produced ice gradually melts during peak hours and cools the air entering the gas turbine through a heat exchanger; This work increases the production power of the gas turbine. He added: This type of mechanism is used all over the world to increase the production capacity of gas turbines, but so far its technology has not existed in the country. In the country as well, with the movement towards the realization of the energy price and also the increase in demand, especially in the industries, the use of this system has the necessary justification and may become inevitable in the near future, especially since currently the country’s gas and combined cycle power plants are They have more than 64% of electric energy production and this share is also increasing. Using this system during peak hours can increase the capacity of gas units by at least 15%. This technologist pointed out: the very important advantage of this system is the need for no water, which is doubly important in the country’s current water shortage situation. In addition, this system has the ability to work and high efficiency in hot and humid areas such as the south of the country, whose development programs are in progress; While similar systems, in addition to the need for water, in the climate of Sharjah have limited efficiency and little effect. Behrouzifar continued: This system can be used in all gas pressure boosting stations and oil fields to increase the transmission or extraction capacity.

Due to the large dimensions of the ice tank in the main system, it is necessary to have an accurate system for continuously monitoring the situation. This issue is one of the main complications of this system, for which there is no sample available, and in general, this system was designed for the first time in the country by our team and its scaled sample was also built.

The CEO of Toka Energy Pars Company continued: Our company members consist of experts in mechanics, process, electricity, electronics, control and precision instruments, who during the process of carrying out feasibility studies, conceptual and basic design of the system and development, especially the innovative condition monitoring module Ice in the tank.

Behrouzifar said: In this way, all kinds of computer simulations and specialized software and the development of specific codes for this plan have been used. This system is designed in such a way that the production of ice is fully controlled and its melting is done at the desired rate during the peak hour of electricity consumption to bring stable power generation.

He also said: For this purpose, a network of sensors along with innovative control software developed by our team members are placed in certain places of the tank, from the beginning of the first ice crystals to the complete ice, maintaining safe conditions and not damaging the Equipment to control ice production.

He stated: Because this system is mostly used in power plants, it requires high reliability, both in order to ensure that the electricity supply is not disrupted in peak conditions and also in order to ensure that the electricity is not supplied in accordance with The readiness announced by the power plant should not be subject to heavy fines.

This technologist pointed out: The design of this system is such that it does not interfere with the normal operation of the power plant and its maintenance can be done independently. Also, due to the high importance of electricity in peak conditions, this system is designed based on maximum energy efficiency.

Behrouzifar added: This system has a fundamental application in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, pressure boosting lines, and generally wherever a gas turbine is needed, and it can control one of the main problems of operating this system in high summer temperatures.

According to the public relations report of Sharif University of Technology, these projects are not possible without government support due to the high volume of liquidity, and in order to achieve the result, it is necessary to create suitable incentives for the private sector to enter this field.
